2 Day Snæfellsnes Peninsula Tour

Whale Watching, Waterfalls, Caving & Hot Springs

The 2 day Snæfellsnes Peninsula Tour is a fairytale adventure around the Snæfellsnes Peninsula.  The area combines all the wonders of Iceland in one place; the sea crashing upon the sandy shores, jagged lava fields, waterfalls, imposing cliffs for hiking and photography, and small fishing villages for those who are curious about the culture Iceland.

This tour is for anyone looking to relax and to immerse themselves in Iceland’s natural beauty. You’ll be picked up at your accommodation in Reykjavík and carried off through the countryside. We visit iconic places such as Kirkjufell Mountain and go caving in Vatnshellir Cave. This tour also gives you more time to enjoy: You’ll spend a night in a charming hotel Fransiskus in the town Stykkisholmur where the famous movie “the secret life of Walter Mitty” was filmed. The day after you continue exploring the area before you return to the city.  Snæfellsnes is also home to one of three national parks in Iceland, with Snæfellsjökull glacier in the middle. You’ll have an opportunity to explore the deep places of Iceland with a hike through a canyon cut into the mountain, a lava cave to explore and imposing rock formations on the coast. During Northern Lights season you have the chance to witness the northern lights in the picturesque surroundings of Snæfellsnes.

You’ll spend a night in a charming hotel Fransiskus in the town Stykkishólmur, where the famous movie “the secret life of Walter Mitty” was filmed. After a good breakfast we head out to the open water on a whale watching tour. After sailing the beautiful Breiðafjörður Bay, with it’s countless islands, we take a further look at the nature of Snæfellsnes. We stop at the famous Bjarnarhöfn Shark Museum, you’ll see treasures and tools collected during a lifetime at sea. There may even be a change to taste hákarl (shark), dried in a shed behind the museum several times per year, along with a taste of Icelandic Brennivín to wash it down.

On the way back to Reykjavík we stop by the most powerful hot spring in Europe, Deildartunguhver. We also stop by two very picturesque waterfalls, Barnafossar and Hraunfossar in West Iceland. We arrive in Reykjavík before the evening, giving you time to enjoy the city after a refreshing, yet eventful 2 days on the West Coast of Iceland.
