Boat Tour: “The Pearl” Hrísey Island

Whale Watching & Dinner Included

Hrísey Island is a beautiful pearl in the middle of Eyjafjörður Fjord. It is the home to wide variety of bird life and fauna. The friendly inhabitants on the island are self-sufficient and open minded. There are a few automobiles in the island, but instead the inhabitants use old tractors that are specially equipped for transporting people, truly a unique way.
The tour begins with a one hour sail from Akureyri to Hrísey, with a stop to watch the whales in Eyjafjörður Fjord. When ashore in Hrísey Island a local guide greets us and takes us on a tractor tour of the island. We then have a feast at a local restaurant enjoying a delicious fish soup. We end this magical evening tour with some whale watching on the boat ride back to Akureyri in the evening sun.
