Lake Mývatn & Snowshoeing Tour from Akureyri

Snowshoeing in the Great Wide Open!

Mývatn Snowshoeing tour is a fun winter activity. We start with a pickup in Akureyri and drive to Lake Mývatn. We stop by the magnificent Godafoss Waterfall on the way. When the snow is deep and the Mývatn outback is white, we put on our snowshoes to explore the surroundings of Mývatn. We just love the crunch of our footsteps in fresh snow.

The snowshoes allow us to go outdoors without sinking too deep into the white powder and they give grip on patches of icy snow. There is a snowshoe hike for every type of weather and every kind of snow. Just make sure you are dressed for the cold and up for the adventure. Snowshoeing doesn’t require any special skills, but beware that it can be more strenuous than just walking. If you like hiking, you will love snowshoeing!

After the hike, we stop by the Lake Mývatn Nature Baths and you can relax in the warm geothermal waters before we return to Akureyri.
