We fly with a 5 passenger Cessna from Reykjavik Airport. The flight to the active eruption is short and we have enough time to explore the volcano from various angles and proximity. After you captured the experience we will head back to Reykjavik Airport.
The eruption in Fagradalsfjall, on Reykjanes Peninsula, started on March 19th 2021 and is still active. The eruption is relatively small on Icelandic geological scale, around 100x smaller than the eruption in Holuhraun in 2014. The result is that the eruption site is accessible for visitors, and can be viewed without hazard. The lava flows from various rifts, and runs in rivers through valleys and hills. A truly unique spectacle.
