We hike the hills behind the Wilderness Center along marked path of ancient routes, both of men and sheep. Apart from the beautiful view of the Norðurdalur valley and interesting stories from the past, the route includes an old shepherd’s shelter, a hay wire (for transporting hay from the top of the hill down to the farm) and an old pack horse trail.
This fully guided hiking tour offers both insight into the history of the area and a closer look at the beautiful scenery around the Wilderness Center. We recommend you bring a lunch pack, water bottle and clothing fitting to weather and hiking.
