Arctic Coastline & Whale Watching

Experience the True North

A tour that mixes nature and heritage in a unique way

The Arctic Coastline & Whale Watching Tour from Akureyri gives you an opportunity to experience the coastal life in Eyjafjörður Fjord. The picturesque coastline route, with the mountains hovering above, is a road less traveled and offers the tranquility of rural Iceland. During the tour we will experience a whale watching tour from Hauganes, with the oldest Whale Watching company in Iceland.

Tour description

During this delightful day we travel the coastline of Eyjafjörður fjord, the deepest fjord in Iceland. Focusing on coastal life and the beautiful seaside surroundings on the way. We will go on a whale watching sailing on an authentic oak boat from Hauganes Village. The experience is about 2 hours guided tour giving you the best opportunity to observe the whales in there natural environment. After the sailing we will have time for a lunch from fresh local produce before we continue our tour. We take our time to walk on a black sand beach and hear stories of life by the cold arctic ocean. Among other stops is the busy harbor area of Dalvík Village, one of the biggest port in Icelandic fishing industry, and the old herring factory in Hjalteyri Village. You will get a chance to taste the unique and original products in the area and experience the true north.
